Star Princess Makes History in Alaska

This Alaska season, Star Princess is charting new territory for how Carnival Corporation operates in the Pacific Northwest.

From now through mid‑September, Star Princess is sailing seven‑day Alaska Inside Passage itineraries, calling on iconic destinations including Juneau, Ketchikan and Skagway. But what truly sets this deployment apart is what’s powering the journey — and how the company is showing up in the communities along the way.

Star Princess is Carnival Corporation’s first LNG‑powered ship to operate in Alaska, marking a major milestone for the company in one of the world’s most environmentally sensitive regions.

Liquefied natural gas is the best readily available, proven and commercially scalable advanced fuel for the maritime industry today, significantly reducing direct greenhouse gases and other atmospheric emissions compared to conventional marine fuels. Bringing an LNG‑powered ship into Alaska demonstrates real momentum in advancing Carnival Corporation’s sustainability efforts.

That commitment extends beyond the ship itself. To mark Star Princess’ inaugural Alaska season, Princess Cruises is investing in the communities that define these itineraries — supporting local organizations focused on veterans services, marine conservation, childcare access and trail preservation. This includes contributions to the Joseph T. Craig American Legion Post 3 in Ketchikan, helping rebuild a historic gathering place for veterans; Juneau Flukes, advancing whale research and marine conservation; the Skagway Childcare Council, expanding access to quality childcare for local families; and Sitka Trail Works, supporting the preservation of the region’s trail systems.
