AIDAnova Answers the Call, Rescues Four Fishermen
AIDAnova’s journey from Kiel, Germany to Bergen, Norway took an unexpected turn when the ship received a distress call from a fishing vessel in Norwegian waters.
After attempts to contact the vessel were unsuccessful, AIDAnova’s crew spotted smoke approximately 17 nautical miles away, changed course and moved quickly to help.
Four fishermen had escaped a raging fire aboard their fishing vessel and were adrift on a small life raft awaiting assistance. Having trained for moments like this, the AIDAnova crew didn’t hesitate. They swiftly launched the ship’s rescue boat, recovered the stranded fishermen and brought them safely aboard. Fortunately, the fishermen were unharmed and, after routine medical examinations, were cared for on board as AIDAnova continued to Bergen, arriving on schedule.
Thanks to the crew’s quick response and professionalism, a frightening day at sea ended with four fishermen safe and on their way home to family and loved ones.
