Carnival Corporation UK Teams Tackle Beach Cleanup for International Coastal Cleanup Day
In honor of International Coastal Cleanup Day, colleagues from Carnival Corporation’s European cruise lines rolled up their sleeves and headed to Southampton’s shoreline to help make a difference in their local community.
Two volunteer cleanups brought together several colleagues, who spent a combined four hours collecting nearly 1,400 pieces of litter weighing more than 50 kilograms (≈110 pounds).
The first cleanup took place at Netley Abbey on Sept. 16, where team members collected 536 items totaling 20 kilograms (≈44 pounds). A few days later, other colleagues gathered at Weston Shore, collecting an impressive 863 items weighing 30 kilograms (≈66 pounds).
From bottle caps and food wrappers to larger debris, every item collected was one less piece of litter finding its way into local waterways and marine environments.
