Carnival Vista Unlocks Celebration Key with a Slam Dunk
The sun was shining, and the steel drums were playing as Carnival Vista made history on Saturday, June 19, as the first ship to call on Carnival Corporation’s brand-new exclusive destination, Celebration Key™.
The festivities kicked off with a high-energy guest grand opening celebration, hosted by Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy, with Carnival Corporation CEO Josh Weinstein also in attendance. But the real slam dunk came when Carnival’s Chief Fun Officer, Shaquille O’Neal, stepped onto the scene – posing for photos, signing basketballs for a few lucky fans and officially opening Celebration Key’s brand-new basketball courts.
From there, guests fanned out across the five immersive “portals” of Celebration Key. The towering Suncastle, with its racing waterslides and panoramic views, quickly became a popular Instagram backdrop.
With more than 30 food and beverage venues, a vibrant artisan village and a design that features Bahamian culture and community, Celebration Key is already living up to its name.
Twenty Carnival Cruise Line ships are scheduled to visit the destination from 10 U.S. homeports through 2027. Celebration Key is poised to welcome over two million guests in its first year.
