Leirvik Shines in Final Rotterdam Call

What began as a misty Norwegian morning turned into a shining example of partnership, purpose and possibility, as Holland America Line wraps up its summer season in the picturesque town of Leirvik on the island of Stord in Norway.
Recently, Holland America Line’s Rotterdam welcomed nearly 20 guests – including the mayor and key local stakeholders – for the final of three calls to Leirvik, Stord this year. As a new cruise destination in Norway, Leirvik embraced the opportunity with open arms, fresh strawberries and a heartfelt hope for more visits to come.
The day began with a warm welcome, a sustainability-focused ship tour and a shared lunch. Guests explored Rotterdam’s advanced environmental systems – including its recycling center – and heard firsthand about Carnival Corporation’s commitment to reducing its environmental impact and creating shared value with local communities. From waste management to land power connectivity and alternative fuel trials, the conversation focused on transparency, innovation and mutual benefit.
From the mayor’s warm thanks to the glowing guest feedback, the day in Leirvik left a lasting impression.
