Streets of Grand Bahama Come Alive for Pineyard Rush Junkanoo Parade
Bright colors lined the streets of Grand Bahama Island as neighbors and visitors gathered along Explorer’s Way for the Pineyard Rush Senior Junkanoo Parade. The parade, sponsored by Carnival Cruise Line, drew large crowds to downtown Freeport.
Junkanoo groups made their way along the route with music, choreography and elaborate costumes, competing in themed performances as spectators cheered from both sides of the street. Junkanoo is The Bahamas’ national cultural festival, known for its high-energy music, handcrafted costumes and deep roots in the country’s history and identity.
Government officials, including the Minister for Grand Bahama and the Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, attended the parade, which celebrated the island’s rich cultural heritage.
Carnival Cruise Line and Celebration Key flags lined the route, adding to the festive atmosphere. The Pineyard Rush showcased the talent and rich traditions of Grand Bahama, bringing the community together through culture, competition and national pride.
