Standing at the Bottom of the World: Seabourn Makes History

On a recent Antarctica Exploration voyage aboard Seabourn Venture, guests didn’t just travel to the bottom of the world – they helped make history while they were there.

During the sailing, the ship crossed the Antarctic Circle, reached 70° south (the furthest south in Seabourn and Carnival Corporation history), explored the rarely visited George VI Sound and landed guests directly onto Antarctic Sea ice for a champagne toast at the southernmost point any Seabourn guest has ever stood.

Led by Captain Simon Bishop and Expedition Leader Luqui Bernacchi, the journey blended serious exploration with unforgettable moments – from Zodiac landings, small‑boat excursions that bring guests ashore in remote polar locations, to expert‑led discovery at the edge of the world – turning the voyage into a true once‑in‑a‑lifetime experience.
