Five Generations, One Workforce: Bettina Deynes Shows Why People Matter Most
When Bettina Deynes, Carnival Corporation’s global chief human resources officer, took the stage at the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s HR Conference, her message was clear: having multiple generations in the workplace isn’t a challenge – it’s a powerful advantage.
“Our role as leaders is not to close a generational gap. It’s to build a bridge strong enough to carry all of us together,” Bettina said.
For the first time in history, five generations – from Baby Boomers to Gen Alpha – are working side by side. Bettina sees this as an opportunity to innovate and inspire. She spoke about reverse mentorship, cross-generational innovation labs at Carnival Corporation’s upcoming headquarters, and redefining flexibility so every generation feels included.
“Our greatest asset is our people. When they feel seen, valued and connected, that’s when magic happens,” Bettina added.
Her call to action? Build bridges, embrace different perspectives and lead with purpose. Because in tourism, the future isn’t just about ships and destinations – it’s about people moving the world forward, together.
