Meet the Vendor: Flippin’ Fritters Brings the Flavor to Celebration Key

When Omar Pratt got the email from Carnival Corporation, he thought it had to be a mistake.
“This can’t be real!” he remembers thinking. But it was. And it was life changing.
Omar is just one of 57 local business owners selected to make up the 80% Bahamian owned and operated outlets at Celebration Key, Carnival Cruise Line’s newest exclusive destination in The Bahamas. As co-founder of Flippin’ Fritters, Omar’s bold, flavor-forward food truck is part of the new culinary lineup at Celebration Key, which welcomed its first guests on July 19.
As part of Celebration Key’s distinctly Bahamian dining and shopping scene, Flippin’ Fritters serves a mashup of sweet and savory fritters – think conch, lobster and shrimp for the seafood lovers, and banana and coconut water fritters for those with a sweet tooth. And don’t forget the dipping sauces: cream cheese, garlic-honey and more.
“We don’t just serve fritters,” Omar says. “We serve an experience.”
That experience started with a dream and a food truck – and a lot of hustle. When Carnival Corporation put out the call for local vendors, Omar and his team jumped at the chance. They wrote a proposal, sent it in and waited.
Then came the call from Carnival Corporation inviting Flippin’ Fritters to be part of the Celebration Key experience, helping to welcome millions of guests to the island paradise every year.
“To be picked – that felt unreal. It felt like a dream. It still feels like a dream,” says Omar.
Now, with its custom plates shaped like fish and conch shells, and fritters that wow from the first bite, Omar’s team is ready to “flippin’” serve.
