From Kitchen to Community: Giving Surplus Food a Second Life

Good food shouldn’t go to waste. And in Southampton, it isn’t.

Through P&O Cruises’ partnership with OLIO, a food‑sharing app that connects surplus food with people who need it most, excess food from the cruise line’s development kitchen is being shared with local families instead of going to waste. Over the past year, the initiative has helped save more than 10,000 meals and deliver thousands of kilos of delicious food throughout the community.

The program is part of Carnival Corporation’s corporate-wide Less Left Over food waste reduction strategy – a commitment to reducing food waste by rethinking how food is prepared, managed and donated across every stage of the food lifecycle.

The OLIO partnership shows how sustainability efforts can benefit both the environment and the communities they serve.
