Carnival Cruise Line Names Chris Chiames Vice President And Chief Communications Officer
Veteran communicator to leadglobal communications for world's largest cruise line
MIAMI (March 5, 2018) — Carnival Cruise Lineannounced today that Chris Chiames has been named to the newly created role ofvice president and chief communications officer (CCO) following a nationwidesearch. Chiames is reporting directly to Carnival President Christine Duffy.
As CCO, Chiames serves as a key advisor toCarnival's leadership team and is responsible for corporate reputationmanagement, internal and external communications, issues management, executivecommunications and other communications that enhance the brand and reputationof Carnival Cruise Line.
"Chris is a hands-on communications leader and strategist with more than 30years of experience in travel and tourism," said Duffy. "With his vastexperience and fresh perspective, we expect Chris will set a new standard ofexcellence for Carnival's global communications function."
Most recently, Chiames served as senior vicepresident of corporate communications at Sabre Corporation and prior to thatwas vice president of corporate affairs at Orbitz Worldwide. He previously heldgovernment relations and communications positions for Airlines for America,which represents major U.S. airlines, which led to more than 15 years of workin the airline industry, including communications leadership positions for bothAmerican Airlines and US Airways. Chiames began his career in Washington, DC aspress secretary to then-U.S. Congressman Tony Coelho (D-California).

Chiames earned his undergraduate degree injournalism from Fresno State University. He also holds a master of publicadministration degree from the Harvard Kennedy School and a master's degree injournalism from the University of Maryland.
