Holland America Line’s ms Eurodam Continues to Set Records with 12th Consecutive Score of 100 on U.S. Public Health Inspection

Score marks the longest streak ofperfect 100s in cruise industry

Seattle, Wash., Sept. 26, 2017— Holland America Line's ms Eurodam made it an even dozen by earning its12th consecutive perfect score of 100 on a routine United States Public Health(USPH) inspection conducted by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control andPrevention (CDC). The six-year run of perfect scores continues to set recordsin both the cruise industry and company history.

Eurodam's unannounced USPH inspection washeld Sept. 16, 2017, during a turnaround in Seattle at the start of a seven-dayAlaska cruise.The perfectscore follows soon after ms Zaandam's June score of 100 on its USPH inspection.

Over the past threeyears, Holland America Line ships have achieved a perfect 100 more than 20times. In addition to Eurodam and Zaandam this year, msKoningsdam and ms Oosterdam receivedperfect scores in March.

CDCinspections are part of the Vessel Sanitation Program, which was introduced inthe early 1970s and is required for all passenger ships that call at a U.S.port. The inspections are unannounced and are carried out by officials from theUnited States Public Health Service twice a year for every cruise ship. HealthCanada's Cruise Ship Inspection Program harmonizes with the United States' CDCVessel Sanitation Program, and inspections are conducted once a year whencruise ships visit Canadian ports.

Thescore, on a scale from one to 100, is assigned on the basis of a checklistinvolving dozens of areas of assessment encompassing hygiene and sanitation offood (from storage to preparation), overall galley cleanliness, water,shipboard personnel and the ship as a whole.
