Cunard and P&O Cruises senior business manager announces retirement after 39 years

After nearly fourdecades in the business, Cunard and P&O Cruises senior business manager TrevorDupont will be taking early retirement at the end of February 2017.

Dupont started with P&O in 1977. He managed the reservations department andspearheaded the transition and growth to the Southampton office from London. Healso played a key sales role as the company was demerged from the P&O groupin 2000 which was followed by the merger with Carnival Corporation in 2003 toform Carnival Corporation & plc.

Dupont went on to lead the sales operation for the Ocean Village brand andcreate a new multi brand sales department selling P&O Cruises, PrincessCruises, Cunard and Ocean Village.

Carnival UK chairman,David Dingle, who joined the company a year after Trevor said:

"Trevor has beena great colleague, and more importantly a close friend, throughout our careerstogether. He is eternally cheerful, enormous fun to be with and an outstandingpeople person. Like his father before him, he is a P&O lifer, an incrediblyloyal company man. Throughout his long career he has been a great friend of thetravel agent community and has been our continuity with the trade over fourdecades. All of us, both within and beyond Carnival, who have had the pleasureof working with Trevor owe him enormous gratitude, and we wish him a wonderfulretirement."


Carnival UK VP sales, Alex White commented: "We will be incredibly sorry to seeTrevor leave the company. He is a well known and much loved figure in thecruise industry and has been a great asset to Carnival UK for many years.Trevor's knowledge and experience of the travel trade has been invaluable, bothcementing strong relationships with many of our travel agent partners andleading a successful team.

"I would personally like to thank Trevor for the outstanding contribution hehas made to our business and I have no doubt there will be several celebrationsand opportunities to reminisce."

Dupont said: "It has been an absolute privilege to work for such a successfulcruise company. After nearly four decades here, I've seen a huge amount ofchange in the industry, as well as in our ways of working.

"When I first started at P&O Cruises at the age of 16 we had two ships andno computers or internet and I had a full head of hair! I'm extremely proud tohave been a part of the brands' growth and development to the thriving companiesthey are today."

Dupont continued: "I will leave with some fantastic memories, in particular thepeople I have met and worked with. I thank them all and I am sure I will meetmany of them on board as I sail through my retirement."
