CENTRAL ROMANA, AIDA CRUISES AND COSTA CRUISES FORGE LONG-TERM STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP TO STRENGTHEN HOMEPORT OPERATIONS AND AIR CONNECTIVITY
The agreement establishes mutual commitments to support cruise operations, international air connectivity, and long-term growth in the Dominican Republic.
London, November 4, 2026. - Central Romana Corporation, Ltd. has signed a strategic partnership agreement with AIDA Cruises and Costa Cruises, both part of Carnival Corporation Ltd.’s European cruise operations, during World Travel Market in London.
The long-term agreement strengthens La Romana’s position as a strategic Caribbean cruise homeport, providing long-term operational and commercial certainty for vessel deployment, international flights, and infrastructure development.
A key advantage is Central Romana’s ownership and operation of both La Romana International Airport and La Romana Cruise Port, offering an integrated fly-and-cruise platform that facilitates coordinated schedules, air connectivity, and efficient passenger transfers experience.
The partnership builds on 30 years of cooperation with Costa Cruises, beginning at Catalina Island in 1996, and 23 years with AIDA Cruises, which established La Romana as a Caribbean homeport in 2003.
This agreement marks an important milestone in our longstanding partnership,” said Luis Emilio Rodríguez Amiama, La Romana Airport & Cruise Port Director at Central Romana Corporation, Ltd\. “These mutual commitments strengthen La Romana as a strategic Caribbean homeport and fly-and-cruise hub, supporting increased passenger and flight volumes and creating new opportunities for the Dominican Republic.”
“Our partnership with Central Romana has been instrumental in developing La Romana as an important Caribbean homeport,” said Anika Birkholz, Vice President of Revenue Management and Capacity at AIDA Cruises. “This agreement provides the certainty and mutual guarantees needed to support the continued growth of AIDA Cruises and Costa Cruises, while ensuring reliable operations and an excellent guest experience.”
The agreement was formalized in the presence of the Dominican Republic’s Minister of Tourism, David Collado, who welcomed the partnership.
“This agreement reflects the confidence of leading international cruise operators in the Dominican Republic,” said Minister Collado. “It strengthens international connectivity, supports sustainable tourism development, and creates new economic opportunities for La Romana and the country.”
