New Look Pacific Jewel Opens the Doors to Its Pantry

P&OCruises has opened the doors to its new Pantry, with Pacific Jewel becoming thefirst of the cruise line’s ships to offer the ground-breaking dining concept followinga multi-million dollar refit.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

Guestson Pacific Jewel’s current cruise from Singapore to Brisbane have been enjoyingthe new international food market, which features eight enticing outlets in astylish, modern setting.

P&OCruises Senior Vice President Sture Myrmell said he was thrilled to see thePantry concept come to life.

“We'vebeen working on this part of our onboard food revolution for some time and tosee the concept become reality is very exciting. It's a game-changer – and it’sclear from our guests’ reaction that they love it,” Mr Myrmell said.

“ThePantry is a dining experience like no other at sea. Designed as aninternational food market, it features eight bespoke outlets reflecting themany flavours Australians love to eat.”

Replacingthe former buffet area on deck 12 of Pacific Jewel, The Pantry provides anall-inclusive dining experience, with delicious food and great design creating acontemporary café vibe.

Inspiredby modern Australia, Hook’s Fish and Chips is themed like a beachfrontrestaurant with whitetiles and bleached driftwood,Mexicana embracesthe Aztec look withcactus-inspired tiles, theGrill is styled likean industrial burger bar and the monochrome facade of the Sugar Bar is adeliberate contrast to the rainbow colours of the decadent sweets and cakes ondisplay. With its cheeky name, Fat Cow carvery is all about meat, Curry Housedishes up modern Indian, Stix serves popular Asian food and drinks areavailable at the blue and white tiled Coffee Bar.

Dinerscan choose from communal long tables to lounge chairs and high tables, withscattered pictures, plants, fruit bowls and books adding to the relaxed urbancafé feel of the venue, created by Tillberg Design of Sweden.

MrMyrmell said the cruise line was looking forward to opening its next Pantryoutlets on its latest ships, Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden, which will debut inAustralia in November.

Followingthe ship’s drydock in Singapore, Pacific Jewel now also features P&O’sfirst Pandora jewellery outlet, a new program of parties and a concert-styleproduction show ‘Off the Charts’.
