MKR Takes to the High Seas with Carnival Cruise Line

Carnival Cruise Line has signed up as an official 2017 sponsor of Australia'snumber one show, Channel Seven's My Kitchen Rules, with its Sydney-based ship CarnivalSpirit set to make a guest appearance in two episodes this week.

In a top secret shoot, Carnival Spirit hosted 11 MKR teams plus judgeslast year, with contestants only told the location of filming at the lastminute, providing plenty of excitement but leaving little time to consider thechallenges of cooking at sea.

The first episode, a Cruise Canape Challenge, is hosted in the ship'sadults only Serenity Retreat. Using a makeshift kitchen set-up, teams aretasked with cooking canapes for 150 guests with many appropriately opting forseafood-themed dishes.

The food is judged by cruise guests who vote for their favourite dish,with input from the Captain and the ship's Guest Services team, who also attendthe challenge.

In the second episode, Carnival Spirit provides the setting for a SuddenDeath Cook-Off and Elimination, with the two teams that failed to impress inthe previous challenge sent to a cook-off in the ship's galley.

Food is then tasted and judged in the ship's Empire Dining room byjudges Manu Feildel, Pete Evans and Colin Fassnidge, as well as guest judgesKaren Martini, Guy Grossi and Liz Egan.

Carnival Cruise Line Vice President Australia Jennifer Vandekreeke saidthe filming of the show had been a fabulous experience.

"Deliciousfood is a big part of Carnival's offering and we love a bit of fun too, sohaving the MKR team onboard was the perfect recipe for us," Ms Vandekreekesaid.

The MKRCruise Canape Challenge will air on Wednesday, March 15 at 7.30pm on Seven,with the onboard Sudden Death Cook-Off and Elimination to follow on Sunday,March 19 at 7pm.
