Cruise Industry Veteran Arkinstall Appointed Senior Vice President - Maritime Affairs At Carnival Corp. & plc
MIAMI, Nov. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Charles Arkinstall, a 21-yearveteran of P&O Princess Cruises, has been named senior vice president ofmaritime affairs for Carnival Corporation & plc (NYSE: CCL;LSE) (NYSE: CUK),the world's largest cruise operator.
In this capacity, Arkinstall will head up the newly created corporatemaritime affairs department, responsible for establishing and promotingfleetwide safety, health and security policies for Carnival Corporation &plc's 13 global cruise brands. He will also work closely with the company'senvironmental compliance division in developing corporate-wide environmentalpolicies.
Arkinstall will also serve as Carnival Corporation & plc's representativefor various cruise industry organizations and act as a liaison with thecompany's brands regarding new regulations and developments related to safety,health and security.
Arkinstall will be based in Southampton, England, and report directly toCarnival Corporation & plc's Vice Chairman Howard Frank.

Previously, Arkinstall had overall responsibility for P&O PrincessCruises' multi-billion-dollar newbuilding program, a position he held since1982. In addition to overseeing the design and construction of P&O PrincessCruises' newbuilds, Arkinstall was responsible for establishing andmaintaining fleetwide safety, health, environmental and security policies andstandards, as well as technical operations.
A naval architect with more than 40 years of shipping and shipbuildingexperience, Arkinstall earned his degree in naval architecture from England'sUniversity of Newcastle.
Arkinstall is a fellow of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects inLondon, and a member of the general committee of Lloyds Register and theBritish Advisory Committee of the Registro Italiano Navale, an Italian shipclassification society.
