Carnival Cruise Line Announces Cruise Director and Entertainment Director for Carnival Sunrise
Christopher ‘The Flying Scotsman' Williamsand Katie Romitz to Lead Ship's Entertainment Team with Unparalleled Fun andEnergy
MIAMI (March 8, 2019) – Continuing to buildexcitement around next month's debut of the totally transformed CarnivalSunrise, Carnival Cruise Line has announced that ChristopherWilliams will serve as cruise director and Katie Romitz as entertainmentdirector for the ship's inaugural season when it launches in April following anextensive dry dock.
Previously sailing as Carnival Triumph, theship is currently undergoing a $200 million bow-to-stern transformation inCadiz, Spain, and will re-emerge as Carnival Sunrise featuring all of theline's popular, branded food, beverage and entertainment experiences.
Williams and Romitz will lead CarnivalSunrise's vast array of entertainment offerings from legendary deck parties andhilarious shows at Punchliner Comedy Club to trivia games and audiencefavorites such as Hasbro, The Game Show; CLUE: The Murder Mystery; and, ofcourse, the award-winning Playlist Productions shows.
An eight-year Carnival veteran, Williams, anative of Scotland – and best known as the "Flying Scotsman" – joined thecompany as a singer and Playlist Productions performer before being namedcruise director, serving in this capacity on the line's newest and largestships. Known for his gregarious personality and easy banter with guests,Williams' role as cruise director is to create a fun, engaging and welcomingenvironment while helping guests create lifelong vacation memories.
Romitz, who hails from Ontario, Canada,joined Carnival in 2013 as an entertainment host and was named media managertwo years after where she focused on shipboard marketing channels such asFunTimes and the HUB App. Combining her love for travel, passion for cruisingand keen attention to detail, Romitz was named entertainment director lastyear. She will oversee all of the ship's entertainment options and will put herskills and enthusiasm into planning, organizing and scheduling the hundreds ofactivity and entertainment choices each week.

Carnival Sunrise debuts April 29, 2019, witha seven-day Caribbean cruise from Norfolk, Va., followed by a series offive-and six-day Bahamas voyages from that port. The ship will then repositionto New York for a summer schedule of four- to 14-day departures commencing May23, 2019, including sailings to Bermuda, New England and Canada. Beginning Oct.28, 2019, Carnival Sunrise will shift to Fort Lauderdale to operate a winterschedule of cruises to the Caribbean, Cuba and Bahamas.
Carnival Sunrise will offer an array ofpopular culinary, beverage and entertainment offerings including guestfavorites Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse, Guy's Pig & Anchor Bar-B-QueSmokehouse, The Chef's Table, Cucina del Capitano, RedFrog Pub; as well as totallyredesigned staterooms, including two luxurious Captain Suites adjacent to thebridge; an expanded WaterWorks aqua park; and Cloud 9 Spa, among other features.
