Carnival Corporation's OceanMedallion™ Named 2019 Edison Awards Finalist

As a Smart Device finalist, the Medallion™ is ensured to be named a gold, silver or bronze winner when the annual awards are announced on April 4.

Originally unveiled at CES in January 2017 by Arnold Donald, CEO of Carnival Corporation, the Medallion™ device persistently connects a cruise guest's unique digital identity with an intelligent shipboard Experience Internet of Things (xIoT™) ecosystem to enhance guest-crew interactions and deliver a high level of service and personalized attention. "It's an incredible honor for the OceanMedallion to be named an Edison Award finalist on the anniversary of Edison's birthday and for Carnival Corporation to be recognized for excellence and leadership in innovation," said John Padgett, chief experience and innovation officer for Carnival Corporation. "Inventors like Thomas Edison have inspired us to dream big and fearlessly pursue and develop game-changing innovations that many view as impossible in an effort to elevate and transform the guest experience."

All nominations were reviewed by the Edison Awards Steering Committee and judged by a panel of more than 3,000 professionals from the fields of product development, design, engineering, science, marketing and education. Past winners include AT&T, Space X, Nike, Waze, Nest and Dyson.

The award is the fourth prestigious recognition Carnival Corporation's patented IoT innovations have received in the past four months.
